Laut einem Artikel auf der englischsprachigen IT Newsseite The Inquirer ist es einem Programmierer namens Cody Brocius aus San Diego, Californien gelungen DirectX 10 einem Reverseengineering-Prozess zu unterziehen und damit auch auf WindowsXP lauffähig zu machen.
Das "Alky Project" soll jedoch DirectX nicht nur unter Windows XP auf DirectX 10 Hardware lauffähig sein, sondern sogar auf bestimmter DirectX 9 Hardware. Ausserdem soll dieser Hack auch mit IntelMacs funktionieren.
Potenziellen User können sich für 50US$ als "Sapling Leaf" registrieren. Dieser "exklusive Zugriff" beinhaltet unteranderem Abstimmrechte in der Entwicklung des Hacks und vollen Zugriff auf alle Versionen des Programms.
Ob dies alles der Wahrheit entspricht, oder nur als Geldmacherei enden wird, wird sich in den nächsten Tagen zeigen.
