Der :unwuerdig: P3-S ist eingentliche ein reiner Server-Prozessor, wenn du so willst ein kleiner XEON. Nicht umsonst nennt man ihn "Your solution for entry-level Server Applications" . So gesehen ist er gar ned sooo teuer...Was ich krass finde is das der PIII-S 1400 mit seinen 400 Euro teurer is als ein neuer 2.2 GHz Xeon (der auf jeden Fall besser ist als ein PIII-S). Irgendwi merkwuerdig diese Preispolitik, aber is halt Intel.

Das hab ich nie bestritten. Aber warum is der "Kleine Xeon" teurer als ein *richtiger* Xeon der mehr Leistung bringt?

nope, Die Prestonias haben L2 cache und kosten pro Stueck um die 300 Euro...was glaubst du warum ich mir Xeons hole ;-)

ersteres haben wir natürlich alle,... zweifellos.
dennoch ist der preis mom noch zu hoch.
ist eben ein richtiges profigerät.
die richtigen xeon's ( 900MHz/2MB ) kosten so viel.

Preis/Leistungstechnisch ist aber der Tualatin-Celeron ungeschlagen. Bei einem FSB von 133 MHz gibt es dafür die höchste Leistung pro bezahltem Euro. Meine CPU auf 1600 MHz zieht in der Integer-Leistung einem P4-Willamette mit 2.0 GHz locker davon. In Bezug auf die Athlons ist er in etwa mit einem XP 1800+ vergleichbar. Und das alles für unter Euro 100.
Noch ein Wort zu ECC-Fehlerkorrektur des L2-Caches. Die ist fest verdrahtet in der CPU aktiviert und kann auch nicht durch das BIOS ausgeschaltet werden, auch wenn es dort einen entsprechenden Menü-Punkt gibt. Das funktioniert genauso wie bei der L2-Latency.
